Kitsap Center for Nonprofit Excellence strives to create a vibrant, exemplary nonprofit community through capacity-building, collaboration, shared learning, advocacy, and the promotion of innovation and excellence.

We want to help

KCNE recognizes the huge potential of nonprofits to solve complex social issues, and we want to EDUCATE nonprofit professionals to help them fulfill this potential. We provide consulting, training, assistance, and community forums to DEVELOP the non-profit sector and FACILITATE success. We understand the importance of building a network of peers and engaging with partners. Our programs and events provide a forum through which nonprofits can COLLABORATE, exchanging ideas, and information.

As KCNE grows, we want to help ADVISE nonprofit organizations in Kitsap, acting as a trusted confidant for professionals and board members, providing consultation, and solving issues. Ultimately, we want to INSPIRE transformation and social innovation in Kitsap – having a deep and lasting impact for future generations.

We Want to Help Nonprofits:

  • Strengthen leadership at all levels.

  • Grow their capacity to have deeply positive impacts on the Kitsap community.

  • Strengthen board engagement and governance

  • Improve financial sustainability.

  • Enhance their management and operational processes and procedures.

  • Develop key performance indicators and metrics to better evaluate and measure the impact.

  • Build knowledge, confidence, and enthusiasm in nonprofit professionals and board members.

We Believe:

  • Quality training, networking opportunities, and leadership growth create healthier nonprofits.

  • Healthy nonprofits lead to healthier communities.

  • Through strategic collaboration, nonprofits can achieve more and better serve their clients.

  • When nonprofits manage themselves effectively, they have a greater impact.

  • Nonprofit collaboration is key to solving complex social issues.

  • Diversity is a community asset.

  • In the capability and tenacity of Kitsap Nonprofits to develop the capacity to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Currently, there are no upcoming trainings scheduled, please subscribe to our mailing list and follow our Facebook page to stay up to date on future announcements.

Our last training, the 2020 Kitsap Nonprofit Learning Summit, took place virtually on September 29-30, 2020. The Summit invited board members, executive directors, staff, and volunteers to join world-renowned keynote speaker Julia Campbell, author of Storytelling in the Digital Age: A Guide for Nonprofits, along with respected nonprofits experts and local funders for a dynamic day of learning, networking, and inspiration. We dove into important topics such as equity, marketing during the pandemic, development, strategic planning, finance, board relations, and much more.

In 2015, Kitsap Community Foundation, Olympic College Foundation, and United Way of Kitsap County united to form Kitsap Center for Nonprofit Excellence (“KCNE”). KCNE was founded to provide a deeper, regular, and more integrated continuing education to our county’s nonprofit community. Our hope is for KCNE to grow into a multi-faceted provider of training, networking opportunities, and leadership development for Kitsap County nonprofits.

Neither KCNE nor any of KCNE’s sponsors will make any money from these workshops. All of the money paid by attendees will go into a fund held at Kitsap Community Foundation and will be used to pay KCNE’s expenses. After KCNE’s first year, we will assess whether the fees need to be adjusted up or down.
